This is the plan we run for every new brand, written as a checklist you can run yourself. It assumes you have a site you can edit and about four hours a week. It does not assume a marketing team.
Week one: measure and fix the wrong claims
Day 1. Write thirty questions a buyer asks before choosing you. Group them into five topics.
Day 2. Ask each question in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. Record named, cited, the sentence about you, and the other names. This is your baseline. Most brands start near zero.
Day 3. Read every sentence that mentions you. Find the wrong ones: a price that changed, a feature you now have, a limitation you fixed. Find the page the engine read that says the wrong thing. Fix the page. This is the fastest win in the whole plan.
Day 4. Check that a model can read your site: robots does not block AI crawlers, a sitemap exists, the main text is in the HTML and not only rendered by JavaScript. Fix what is missing.
Day 5. List the pages and sites the engines cited for your questions. Mark the ones you are already on. The rest is your mention list.
Week two: write the three pages that matter most
Pick the three questions where the gap between "named rival" and "not named you" is largest and the question is closest to a purchase. For each, write a page in the shape the engines quote: the question as the title, the answer in the first paragraph, a table of facts, the honest trade-off, the comparison the buyer was about to make, and FAQ schema.
Publish one every few days, not all at once. Link each from a page that already gets traffic.
Week three: earn two mentions
From the mention list, pick the two sites the engines cite most for your questions. Find the author. Write a short note that gives them a reason to include you that is about their readers, not about you: a feature their comparison is missing, a price that changed, a use case they did not cover. Send it yourself, from your own name. Offer to answer questions.
Also this week: find the two Reddit threads closest to your questions and, if you can add something honest, add it, with disclosure.
Week four: re-measure and decide
Ask the thirty questions again, fresh chats, all three engines. Compare to the baseline.
What usually happens by day 30:
- The wrong claims are gone from the answers, if you fixed the pages by day 5.
- One or two of the new pages are being cited, usually by Gemini first because it reads Google's index.
- The named rate has moved from zero to something. Not to the top.
- The mentions you asked for have not landed yet. They take four to eight weeks.
What does not happen: a jump to the top of the answers. That takes the plan running for three or four months.
Then keep going
The plan does not end; it repeats. Every week: re-measure the core questions, write the next page, ask for the next mention, fix whatever broke. That is the job, and it is boring, and it works. It is also exactly what ZwayRank's crew does every 30 minutes, with the pages waiting for your approval, so that a founder can run this plan without giving it the four hours.
