Enterprise analytics, or a crew that ships.
Profound is what a Fortune 500 marketing team buys to understand AI search. ZwayRank is what a founder buys to change it this month without hiring anyone.
The short version. Buy Profound if you have a team that will act on excellent data and a budget in the thousands. Buy ZwayRank if you want the acting done for you, on your keys, for a one-time $50.
Profound has raised a lot of money, serves large brands, and is often called the category leader. Its Starter plan at $99 a month covers ChatGPT only; Growth at $399 adds Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, caps prompts at 100, and includes a monthly allowance of agent credits; Enterprise is custom, with reviews placing deployments between two and five thousand dollars a month. Its most distinctive feature, Prompt Volumes, is panel data on what real people ask AI engines, with regional and demographic breakdowns.
That is a research product. ZwayRank is a work product. Here is the honest comparison.
ZwayRank measures the same things: whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude name you, who they name instead, which pages they cite, and where Google ranks you. The difference is what happens next. A crew of twelve agents accepts the strongest gaps, writes the page, fixes the schema, plans the posts, publishes with your approval, and re-measures a week later. It runs every 30 minutes on your own model keys, and Pro is a one-time $50 for two brands.
| Side by side | ZwayRank | Profound |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $0 for 7 days, then $50 once for two brands | $99/mo for ChatGPT only; $399/mo for three engines; Enterprise custom |
| Engines | ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, plus Google rankings and AI Overviews on the keyword side | 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth, up to 10 on Enterprise |
| Prompts | Set by your budget cap; typically 20 to 60 daily, more weekly | 100 on Growth; tailored on Enterprise |
| Prompt demand data | No panel data; questions come from your site and the engines | Prompt Volumes: panel data from opted-in consumers (Enterprise) |
| Writes and publishes pages | Yes, to your site, with your approval, paced | No; advises your team |
| Social posts | Planned, made and scheduled, on request per workspace | No |
| Model costs | Your own OpenRouter and DataForSEO keys, at cost | Included in the plan |
| API and MCP | Both, on every plan | API on Enterprise |
| Compliance | Isolated database per workspace, encrypted nightly backup | SOC 2, SSO/SAML on Enterprise |
| Trial | 7 days, one brand, first scan free | 7 days on Growth |
Checked 2026-09-08 against Profound's public pages and the reviews listed at the end. Their plans change; ours are on the pricing page.
- Prompt Volumes: real demand data for questions, which nobody else has at that depth
- Up to ten engines on Enterprise, with source-level citation intelligence
- SOC 2, SSO and a dedicated account team, which large companies require
- Google Analytics integration and ChatGPT Shopping visibility on Enterprise
- The crew writes the page, fixes the site and posts, then re-measures; Profound reports
- $50 once versus hundreds to thousands a month
- Your keys at cost, with every cent visible per agent and per brand
- A record of every action with its time, not a dashboard of scores
Where the two products actually differ
Profound's job is to tell a marketing team what is happening across AI engines with more depth than anyone else. It does that well, and its panel data on prompt demand is something ZwayRank does not have. What it does not do is write the page that would change an answer, commit it to your site, post about it, or check next week whether it worked. Your team does those, or an agency does.
ZwayRank's tracking is narrower: three engines, questions drawn from your site and the engines rather than from a consumer panel. But every gap it finds becomes a task, and the task gets done by a named agent with a time in the record. For a founder with no marketing team, that is the whole product.
Cost, honestly
Profound's Growth plan is $399 a month, and the features most reviews praise sit on Enterprise. ZwayRank's Pro is $50 once, plus your model keys, which for two brands usually land between twenty and seventy dollars a month at cost. The pricing page shows the maths.
A common setup
Some teams run both: Profound for the research view a large team wants, ZwayRank to get the pages and posts shipped. They do not conflict.
- You are a large brand with a team that will act on the data
- You need prompt demand data by region and demographic
- Procurement requires SOC 2 and SSO
- You want the gaps closed, not reported
- You are a founder or a small team without a content function
- You want to know the model bill to the cent and pay once for the software
